How It Started

We Are Women Athletes, Designing for Women Athletes

"I trained for my first marathon in gear that dug in, rolled down, and made me uncomfortable at mile 10. I knew there had to be a better way." — Maya Chen, Co-founder

In 2019, Maya Chen and her training partner Jess Kwan set out to solve the problems they faced as competitive runners: waistbands that wouldn't stay put, fabrics that chafed, and gear that simply wasn't designed with the female body in mind.

Working with biomechanics specialists and performance material engineers in Vancouver, they developed their first collection: a five-piece lineup built specifically for women's anatomy and movement patterns. The response was extraordinary.

Today, Velocity Runwear ships to over 20 countries and is worn by everyone from first-time joggers to elite marathon athletes. Our commitment remains the same: performance gear made by women, for women.

Textile scientist and passionate cyclist. Sofia leads our R&D team in developing new fabric technologies and sustainable material partnerships.
